Composing Clothing - Tee-rific! Make a T-shirt That Fits!

This class will start with a basic T-shirt pattern, the Lark Tee by Grainline Studio or the Cashmerette Concord T-Shirt.  From there, we will help you take measurements to find the size you mostly fall into.  Then you will measure, redraw, sew and fit a T-shirt with a knit fabric.  You will mark on your pattern and make adjustments in day one.  In day 2, you will make any final adjustments and sew your completely fitted new Tee.

Be sure to bring fabric enough for two T-Shirts.  The first fabric will be for making the first adjusted shirt, but in case you need further adjustments, it would be good to have fabric to stitch the second adjusted shirt.

Look for a fabric that has 4 way stretch with some lycra in the fabric content.  Choose a mid-weight knit fabric.  Jersey or ITY are some good ones.  Stay away from bamboo or rayon knits for your first shirt.  They are more difficult to sew.  Be sure it has at least 20% or more stretch.

Supplies:

Sewing machine that will zig zag and/or serger
Basic sewing supplies
Ballpoint or Stretch needle (I like to use a Stretch 75/11 needle)
Fabric yardage according to pattern size you think you fall into (a little more in case you need to go up in size wouldn't hurt, and don't forget
enough for 2 shirts in case the first one needs further adjustments.  They don't have to be the same.)
