Introduction to Machine Embroidery - Applique

This class will focus on teaching you how to get your best results with doing appliqué using machine embroidery.  We will use a machine appliqué quilt block in class. This block combines two different techniques for doing appliqué with embroidery.

As a bonus, you will also learn how to get nice flat, pucker free embroidery on quilting cotton. This will enable you to use any type of embroidery for quilt blocks and any project using quilting cotton as the backdrop for machine embroidery.

There may be time in class to stitch another appliqué design of your choice, to give you an opportunity to get assistance with the design for best results. Please bring the fabric and threads desired for this optional design of your choice.

NOTE: Any embroidery machine may be used for this class as long as you know how to operate your machine and already know how to get designs loaded onto your machine. Your design should be loaded onto your machine prior to class. (Assistance is only available for Bernina machines as that is the brand sold at the store with experts on hand.)

The following design will be used:

From Embroidery Online by OESD, Design BC00513 from the Design Collection Rose of Sharon. The collection is currently on sale for $25 and includes 27 - 5.5 x 5.5 inch appliqué quilt blocks and 13 - 9.5 x 9.5 inch appliqué quilt blocks. You may also purchase the design we will be using in class individually, BC00513, for $1.00. The files may be purchased through the Embroidery Online website for an electronic download.
