November Newsletter 2013

                                                                                                                                   November 2013

We returned from the Houston International Quilt Market on Sunday, October 27, delighted with all we had accomplished there!  We saw new trends present for quilters, fabric companies, patterns, books and notions.  We returned with patterns for new totes and bags, zippers for these totes, small notions for stocking stuffers, new Bali Pops (including metallic), girls’ dress patterns, civil war reproduction quilt patterns, and more.

Becky learned a fast and easy way to make hexagons from circles of any size, which she will be teaching at a yet to be assigned date.  Leann learned how to make soft, appliqued pillow cases from cuddle fabrics that can be made in 2 hours or less (we also ordered a new selection of cuddle in solids as well as prints).  She hopes to teach this in a class at a future date.

The upcoming trends in colors for the season are soft, sometimes muted colors with slightly gray casts to them.  Modern quilt patterns are coming on strong, with large areas for placing these muted colors, yet cutting them apart with other colors in between.  Below are some sample patterns we purchased from among these choices.
